Whether you already know you want to breastfeed or you’re simply exploring your options, this is a beautiful time to learn, prepare, and feel supported.
You may have lots of questions—or none at all—and that’s perfectly okay. A prenatal breastfeeding consultation offers a welcoming space to talk about what to expect, explore your feeding goals, and build confidence before your baby arrives.
Together, we’ll focus on your unique situation, your medical history, and practical ways to support a smooth, positive start to feeding your baby.
During our time together, we will:
Prepare for the precious first hours with your baby
Practice comfortable and nurturing breastfeeding positions
Talk about what’s normal in the early days and weeks
Learn how to prevent common challenges and feel ready if they arise
Brainstorm ways to make your postpartum period calmer, more restful, and more enjoyable
Discuss nutrition, medications, and contraception while breastfeeding
Depending on your goals, I can also help you:
Choose and confidently use a breast pump
Learn when and how to introduce a bottle, if that’s part of your plan
Prenatal breastfeeding support can be especially meaningful if feeding a previous baby felt difficult or didn’t go as planned. Taking time to understand what happened—and why—can help release lingering feelings of disappointment or guilt and open the door to a more confident experience this time.
Together, we’ll build on your past experience and create a personalized plan that truly supports your goals, so you can begin this journey feeling prepared, empowered, and gently supported.
Prenatal breastfeeding consultations are often 100% covered by insurance after 28 weeks of gestation (coverage varies by plan).
For self-pay clients, in-person prenatal consultations are $150, and telehealth prenatal consultations are $120. We’ll spend about 90 minutes together, giving us plenty of time to address your questions and goals.
